My name is Joede Vanek, and I am running for Montana State Senate District 43. I am a husband, a father, a retired policeman, and an inventor.
When people ask me why I am running for office, my immediate response is, "Why aren't you?" Let's face it, these are trying times for all Americans, Montanans included.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, now seem a far-off dream, constantly under attack.
We in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana are very fortunate. For the most part, our elected representatives have done a good job in keeping us free from some pretty radical federal constraints and seeming unethical political behavior.
Unfortunately, this election cycle brings a conflict of interest in voting for the incumbent Republican State Senator in District #43, which is my district.
The bottom line is that our incumbent senator was convicted of a crime that he brought upon himself while representing the trust of those in Montana District 43.
I am a 20 year decorated and retired lawman. I will always be a lawman at heart. Yet, a simple and humble man.
I cannot vote for any representative that is convicted of a crime while serving in office, let alone shows disdain for those serving to protect our communities. In my opinion, the honorable decision for our current District 43 senator is to not run for re-election.
How many other Republicans may find themselves feeling the same?
Do they violate their principles and vote the Republican party line, or just not vote at all?
Either way, the Republican party in Montana District 43 finds itself in an unfortunate situation, caused solely by one man.
I offer another solution.
I pondered running for the position solely out of principle. I watched and waited for any other Republican candidate to register as a viable candidate. On the last day to file, with no others registering, I thought of Isaiah 6:8, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I answered, Here am I, send me!"
As Montana State Senator in District 43, I vow for smaller government, less legislation, and more prosperity.
My vision for Montana District 43 is self-sufficiency. Food, Energy, Economy, and Defense.
It is a grassroots effort that establishes policy of a nation, and those policies established of, by, and for the people will be just and good!
